Free Small Art 2
UPDATE 2012-01-07: Summary of this call is available now.
This call is closed, please don't leave new requests.
Want me to draw one of your characters, or anything else?
You can request it here, and I'll draw a postcard-sized sketch. This project is crowdfunded, so I accept tips via paypal, and if you tip, or even if you don't but other people's tips crack a certain threshold, you may get an inked or coloured image instead. If you'd like to request something, please don't refrain from it on because you can't or don't want to tip. :)
Requests will be open for a few days at least; I'll change this message when I close them.
What I will draw
I'm best with humanoids and portraits, but I also draw furries and animals (or plants, objects, abstracts, whatever). Full figures are likely to be semi-chibified, like so.
Topics/requests for a character doing something are welcome in general, as long as it's not too complicated.
I'm not comfortable drawing sexual themes or gore, and may default to a vanilla portrait if you ask for another theme I find I'm not comfortable with.
Format
I'll default to drawing on A6 cards (the size is close enough to 4x6 inches that in my experience it works in pre-cut mats for 4x6 photos). Requesting other small formats - exactly 4x6, 4x4, tall and narrow "bookmarks", ACEOs, etc. is no problem, either.
For colouring I use markers, possibly combined with coloured pencils. "Coloured" may mean greyscale if what you request is naturally grey (or if you tell me you'd prefer that).
I'll upload scans 450 pixels on the longer side, default "delivery" will be via reply to the comment in which you made your request.
Rights
I retain the copyright to the image. When I post it in an online gallery, I will include your name and link to your website (or LJ or DW account), unless requested otherwise.
You may repost the scan wherever you want and it doesn't break site policies, if you credit me and link back to ankewehner.de.
You may also crop and shrink the image to use as an icon. In places like LJ or Dreamwith that provide a space to do so, please credit me as the artist, but you can use it elsewhere.
Tip- and Link incentives
Progress (updated by hand, so it will lag)
I'm leaving the button up since someone wanted to tip later, but please don't leave new requests, this call is closed.
If you spread the link and someone mentions they found this page through you, I'll count that as a $2 tip from you, but not towards the total.

Request
One request per person. I'm making no promises when I finish images, because I think without such a promise I might finish them faster. If you'd like to request something, leave the following information in a comment:
Whom or what would you like me to draw? (Please note that with characters, it's really helpful if you don't only give an image reference and/or physical description, but also mention something about the personality, to avoid getting an image of a stern/serious character grinning like a loon, or the like.)
Any style or format preferences?
If you tipped, or are planning to tip, what bonus would you like? (dimensions of additional file, text on icon, different request for second image)
If you found this through somebody else spreading the link, who was it?
Comments
Audrey!
She looks like a film noir star, only in color. I believe she looks like Jane Greer http://www.leninimports.com/howard_hughes_women_greer_5.jpg only without the hat .;-)
Her dresses are a little old-fashioned, too. Sort of along these lines - http://www.flickr.com/photos/31472241@N03/3458931992/
Sage. Sage ends up looking to me, rather like Minister Pius Thicknesse http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Pius_Thicknesse, however taller, younger, and with a better beard. http://www.facebook.com/samuel.colbeth ;-) http://asylums.insanejournal.com/love_lore/11024.html
SECOND REQUEST YAY
I would like to request a likeness of Peregrine Falcon, Private Detective. An experimental style is quite welcome. :D If you are planning to color it and want to use a particular color to define the theme, #DDA0DD is a good choice.
References, top left and right images here.
Personality adjectives: calm, quiet, thoughtful, highly observant
Description:
Peregrine Falcon looked no more than twenty five, somewhere between a pretty young man and a sharp young woman with a voice that danced nimbly across the line between light tenor and rich contralto. Pale skin, equally pale platinum blonde curls (trimmed short), and a pair of eyes which were much nearer lavender than blue completed an overall odd appearance.
In contrast, the detective was dressed traditionally in a simple button-down shirt, a dark blue waistcoat and matching necktie, a pair of trousers, and laced-up black leather boots (which, despite their thick soles and tall heels, couldn't quite make up for a height of five foot two).
Hello! Please may I have a badger riding a tricycle holding a balloon? Not to be specific or anything. I just really really like badgers. I mean, any badger-related thing would be awesome. But one riding a tricycle holding a balloon seems to come to mind. I can't tip now but will certainly do so immediately after payday!
P.S. this is properly awesome. Props to @suitov for sending the link round.
Ooh ooh ooh. I'd like an Iceheart chattering on about something he loves. He always looks cute when that happens. May be incongruously holding a small reptile or amphibian while doing this (more letting it perch than imprisoning it) and lightly peppered with mud and/or foliage according to taste. Sense that he's been outdoors doing stuff, basically. Any style you like; half- or 3/4-length portrait view unless a better idea occurs.
I'm totally donating. I'd like the big 300dpi scan please. Not too bothered about a second file.
Can I request a portrait of my character, Melisan? You can find his bio on my art exchange page, or I can link it to you.
One image for you at http://ankewehner.de/gallery/4471 , finally
Melisan. Gotcha. :)
Since every artist needs a break to do "art for themselves" This request is for a random dragon-like character (Year of the Dragon). Artist freedom given . ;) It can be furred, scaled, smooth, any type or elemental affiliation... etc.
Thanks for your request. I just went with a classic green one, albeit small http://ankewehner.de/gallery/4469
*heh* Thank you. :D
REQUEST YAY!
I would like a portrait of my character Theodore Gainsfeld, preferably looking happy. My two best references are this one and this other one.
His hair doesn't actually fall over his right eye, which I just realized it looks like it does from that second one. The hair style is right in this one, but ignore the rest of the drawing. It (the hair) is based on this photograph although as you can see, Theo has a side part.
Oh, yes, colors, I do not know if this is going to be colored, but, colors.
He has dark brown hair which looks black, same color eyes, light but not pale skin, and let's say a dark green waistcoat and a medium blue neck tie (not a bright hue). Patterned is nice if you want! Also the shirt collar and neck tie are like this photo in style except he doesn't usually wrap it around twice.
Okay I think I got everything this time.
Patterned neck tie that was, not waistcoat.
OKAY REALLY DONE NOW.
Is the mermaid interior designer from the story I wrote to your first prompt too complicated for this? I can provide a fuller description than appears in the story.
One image at http://ankewehner.de/gallery/4472 for you, finally.
I can either do a portrait (bust with clipboard visible should work) or a semi-chibified full figure - that is, proportions more like the middle version here than the left.
Hm, black hair with red "highlights" (or did the "red coral strands" mean bits of red coral braided into it), and koi pattern tail. Any preference which way the koi pattern leans, colour-balance wise? And do you have an eyecolour in mind? Anything else I should know (skin colour? leaning towards slim or well-padded?)
Is there anything but the tail that's different from humans? (fin-like ears, visible gills?) How do they hold it with clothes?
I'm trying to tip but Paypal seems to be demanding I create an account.
Yes, looks like it. Sorry about that; I'll try to fix it in the long run, but I just sunk an hour into trying to wrangle relevant information from Paypal's help section without success, so it might take a while.
Does a kobobooks gift certificate sound more workable? XD
What is a kobobooks gift certificate and where do I get one?
kobobooks.com is an ebook shop.
Never mind. I'll just treat you as someone who has tipped in exchange for the two bits of flashfic you wrote for me, and because you made me look into that Paypal problem.
Thank you. According to my notes there should be a third piece for you - I hope to get it done tomorrow before I go back to work.
Could I have a portrait please?
She has strings of small red coral pieces braided into her long black hair. Her tail is white/silver with red and black splotches. Fair skin and I would describe her figure as neat and tidy. I have no idea what colour her eyes are.
She has a back fin that starts in her lumbar region and runs the length of her tail.
No visible gills.
My adult merfolk are about 1.5 times the length of the equivalent human. They are built on a slightly more generous scale then humans but most of the extra length is tail (their tails are longer than our legs).
Adult mermaids wear tops rather like bras or boleros for control, warmth and decoration purposes.
Pearls are for adults, but this lady probably has red, black and white strings of coral pieces around her neck instead - it wouldn't do to have better pearls than the client.
I saw your Twitter post, but I came after reading ysabetwordsmith's post on LJ and I decided what I would like a picture of. I have also seen aldersprig's post on LJ.
